Sutton fielded a new look team in the first of this season's monthly Under 14 league meets. They start in the lower tier as a result of the final placings from last year, but soon gelled as a team and played some good hockey. It may be a new season, it may be a new side, but the traditional slow start was still in full effect as they laboured to a 1-0 defeat to Bourne Deeping. Leadenham were up next and Sutton rode out 5-0 victors with goals from White, Gray, Lamming, Forrest and Portass. Sleaford proved much too strong in the next match and brushed aside Sutton's challenge with a 6-1 victory, Will White claiming the consolation goal with a cross that was turned in by a defender. In the last match the passing was much better and an adventurous formation with only one defender saw them run out 4-0 victors, with goals coming from Gray, White, Shire and Thorpe, which meant that every outfield player on the day found the back of the net.

Lots of good things to take into the next tournament. Special mentions to both Sid Turner who played well throughout in goal and to David Shire who played out of position in defence and coped really well. We shall be looking to field a second team in the next tournament in a month's time.
