Long Sutton started this game in good spirits, expecting to move themselves to their rightful place at the top of the table. They started the game slow and struggled to create goal scoring chances in the first half, allowing Peterborough to take the lead from a short corner. After a strong half time team talk Sutton came out determined and focused, which was visible in their fantastic game play. Sutton tore apart the Peterborough defence and created numerous goal scoring chances. Their first goal came from Sarah Walker who slotted the ball home from a short corner. The second came from a brilliant solo run from Leanne Woodhead to smash the ball home from the top of the D. Sutton were on top for the rest of the game and unlucky not to score many more goals. Player of the Match Jess Hudson had an amazing run through the field, but was very unlucky to hit the post. Sutton kept possession of the ball until the dying seconds of the game, when Peterborough had one last attack after the final whistle, in the form of a short corner. This lead to some very heated play seeing two Long Sutton players receiving Yellow cards for questioning the Umpires decisions. After 3 short corners in succession, Sutton were unlucky to receive a penalty flick against them, which left Sutton very deflated to only receive 1 point from the game. Luckily enough the other league results still went Suttons way, seeing them placed top of the table.
