Long Sutton started with real intent on Saturday, taking the game to Letchworth with pace and aggression and some excellent passing. Sutton created some good chances to take the lead but once again came up short in front of goal. Letchworth scored totally against the run of play but then started to get a foothold in the game and some sloppy individual errors from Sutton allowed Letchworth to score twice more before the break. Sutton regrouped and came out in the second half more positive and with intent. This resulted in a penalty flick being awarded. Up stepped skipper Harrison to neatly slot the ball into the corner. Sutton were more positive and Man of The Match Will Cook was testing the Letchworth defence with some cutting runs. Letchworth always looked dangerous on the counter and again errors from Sutton allowed them to score again. This did not deter Sutton who pushed forward and were awarded numerous short corners one of which Jamie Fetherstone popped up to tuck in the rebound from Smith's initial shot. Letchworth went down to 10 and Sutton put them under increased pressure but couldn't find the back of the net. Letchworth scored again near the death from a short corner to sink any Sutton hopes. Sloppy errors and a lack of clinical finishing cost Sutton again, and overshadowed their fluent Hockey at times.
