Once again these two teams produced a mouth watering contest but again this fixture was marred by some questionable umpiring decisions. Sutton started the brighter and opened the scoring with some great work by Cook and Smith allowing Hales to finish. Letchworth equalised immediately with a good individual goal. Sutton continued to play some exciting hockey with Cook and Smith terrorising the Letchworth fullbacks and they created some excellent chances but couldn't convert. 1-1 half time. Sutton started the second half at a very leisurely pace allowing Letchworth to take the lead. Letchworth put pressure on Sutton but Sutton slowly started to wake up and get some possession. A perfect, short corner routine deflection from Sisson squared things up once again. Letchworth soon took the lead again from a good corner routine of their own. This galvanised Sutton who responded well allowing Hales to lash home his second of the game and make it 3-3. Sutton then had some golden opportunities to put the game to bed but the Letchworth keeper was on good form and Sutton couldn't take the lead. The game was now end to end stuff but it was Letchworth who caught Sutton on the break and took the lead. Sutton pushed on to find an equaliser again but Letchworth were more clinical and scored once more putting the game out of reach. A much improved performance by Sutton didn't give them what they deserved.
