A changed Sutton went to Stevenage on Sunday with only 11 players. With 4 regular 1st team players available, debuts were handed to Matt Grange and Brad Sargeant who both played exceptionally well. Sutton started strong and dominated from start to finish. Skipper Jimmy Harrison opened the scoring by slotting a penalty flick into the corner after great work from Ben Shore. Sutton then doubled their lead through Danny Sisson. Man of the match Nick Ellis was a constant threat down the right, supplying the forwards with some fantastic balls. 2-0 half time. After the break Stevenage scored their only goal of the game from a short corner. Instead of dwelling on this Sutton stormed to the Stevenage goal and Ben Shore ferociously flicked the ball into the net to make it 3-1. Sutton were not finished, with Shores superb movement and Ash Taylor finding him it was only going to lead to more goals. Sisson got back into the act and scored two more to complete his hat trick. An excellent team performance gave Sutton a much deserved victory and sent them through to the 3rd round.
