LSHC Mens' Second v Spalding 2nds
Played Home on 8th October 2011
This South Holland local derby was a well contested game with some good hockey played by both sides.
Spalding took an early lead in the first 3 minutes and followed up with a 2nd to make it 2-0. Sutton showed their customary fighting spirit and got back on level terms with strikes from Ben Shore and Nick Bailey. Unfortunately, an unlucky arm from Adam Taylor resulted in a flick for Spalding and they retook the lead.
Sutton pressed for an equaliser and were certainly more comfortable reverting to their diamond foundation, however a further goal eluded them and any chances of a fightback were hampered by a sending off. Nevertheless, all players worked hard and performances of note included Ash Taylor, Ben Shore and Matt Grange.
