MATCH REPORT
LSHC Mens' Second v St Ives 3rds
Played Home on 15th October 2011A strong St Ives 3rd team opened the scoring in the first half of this well fought game. Sutton showed their customary fighting spirit and were rewarded with the first of three penalty flicks which was duly converted by Man of the Match, Ben Shore.
Shore scored again at the start of the second half and this was followed by Ben Smith converting a second penalty flick to put some distance between the scores. St Ives fought back and won a flick of their own which they duly converted to make the score 3-2.
However Smith followed up his flick with a 2nd goal to regain a 2 goal advantage. Sutoon continued to work hard as a team and were unfortunate to have a third flick strike the crossbar.
Overall the game was good to watch, if a little scrappy but the result was well deserved and gives the spirited seconds another 3 points to build on. Shore and Smith obviously gain the headlines for scoring but it was a strong all round team performance.
