Sutton 2nds travelled away to St Ives for this weeks fixture. Having lost several key players to injury, sickness and promotion to the 1st team, players were thin on the ground, but several 3rd and 4th team regulars stepped up to the plate and proved their worth.

St Ives, by their own admission had two former 1st team players in the squad this week, so Sutton had their work cut out from the start. The game was end to end and several times Sutton looked like scoring, however it was St Ives that took the 1st well worked individual goal, Sutton fought back hard and drew things level.

The 1st of 2 goals that followed for St Ives from well executed short corner routines showed the 1st team class in their squad, however Suttons Ben Shore was looking like being back to his scoring form with a well placed drag flick from Suttons own short corner and a good field goal. However this and and an open play goal from 3rd team regular Jason Mallett wasn't enough to pull things back for Sutton . St Ives pushed on to score a very well worked individual 4th, at this point with less than 20 mins remaining on the clock, St Ives went into defensive mode, although Sutton pressed hard right to the end they couldn't break through the numbers in the 'D' leaving the game 4-3 down. The St Ives Captain commented 'I think we were very lucky there!' An unfortunate loss after a lot of effort and some excellent performances from Jason Mallet, Shane Thompson and Lee Cousins all stepping up from the lower teams.
