Long Suttons 2nd team hosted 2nd in the league Peterborough 5ths this weekend, after a few weeks missed hockey due to appalling weather, everyone was itching to get out and play, but this was set to be a hard return game with their last meet away resulting in a 9-1 defeat. Both teams started well but Sutton proved the stronger of the two sides and at half time were 2-1 up thanks to 2 goals from Ben Shore, Peterborough came out of the break hard putting the pressure on Sutton scoring 2 goals quickly taking the lead and then a 4th from a well worked short corner, it looked as though Sutton might start to buckle under the pressure, but the team spirit and effort was stepped up, and with MOTM Ben Shores return to form, netting his hat trick, and Stef Fox scoring the 4th that was celebrated by a FIFA style "brick fall" kept Sutton in the points, a fair result from a very well played game, Sutton showing excellent form and spirit at home once again. Outstanding performances from Shore (MOTM), Fox, Allan and Carter.
