 Sutton travelled to a wet Horncastle with a mix of experienced players and young debutants to take on a strong home side. After an even start with some good hockey from both sides, Sutton conceded two goals before half time.

Even behind, the side never lost its spirit and unity and was rewarded after good team play with a fine finish from Ed White to make the score 2-1. Sutton continued to press and sadly this allowed Horncastle to hit two goals on the break to give the final score a flattering look. Sutton should take great heart from a good all round team performance, with stand out performances from Shane Thompson and Player of the Match David Marris.
