Sutton 3rds slumped to a disappointing away defeat at lowly Spalding 5ths.

Sutton dominated the attacking play without playing anywhere near their full potential, however Spalding's spirited rearguard action thwarted Sutton throughout the game. Whilst making very few goal scoring opportunities, Spalding took one of their rare chances very well after a swift counter attack and whilst Sutton threw everything at the Spalding defence they failed to score an equaliser.

With goaline clearances, a disallowed goal and an inspired performance from the Spalding keeper Sutton will feel they had enough of the play to warrant a share of the points, but in fairness the failure to make and convert chances was always likely to cost the promotion chasing side dear and unfortunately it did. Stand out performances for Sutton were Jason Mallett, Dave Maris and Man of the Match Andy Blom.
