We have managed it everyone and it is down to you and the support of some excellent benefactors! The club has managed to raise the £200,000 required to replace the carpet on out pitch and thus guaranteeing hockey at Long Sutton for the foreseeable future. With major support from Sport England, the Hockey Foundation, the Alan Boswell Charitable Trust and the Gedney Wind Farm Cluster adding to some wonderful support from a number of benefactors, local businesses, ex players, current players and the local community we have been able to order the pitch and plan for our long term future.
The launch of the new pitch is 15th March when we will start the day with a morning Juniors session led by Josh Baker and his crew followed by an official opening ceremony at 12 noon. This will be followed by a match to commemorate the occasion with the Ladies 1st team taking on a team from Ipswich Hockey Club.
The effort the members of the club have made and committed to has ensured this facility will be available to the local community for many years to come and this backed with the support of many ex players and benefactors has delivered something special.
Come along people, check out tomorrows Long Sutton stars, the current ladies stars and help us celebrate having the best pitch in South Lincolnshire!
