We have managed it everyone and it is down to you and the support of some excellent benefactors! The club has managed to raise the £200,000 required to replace the carpet on out pitch and thus guaranteeing hockey at Long Sutton for the foreseeable future. With major support from Sport England, the Hockey Foundation, the Alan Boswell Charitable Trust and the Gedney Wind Farm Cluster adding to some wonderful support from a number of benefactors, local businesses, ex players, current players and the local community we have been able to order the pitch and plan for our long term future.
The last games on the old carpet will be played on 26th October and the works to lay the new carpet will commence on 28th October with works likely to be completed during December. The club will return after the Christmas break to play on the new carpet. During the period between the club is rearranging matches, training and juniors so please contact your captain or junior co-ordinator for news updates of where you will be playing.
The effort the members of the club have made and committed to has ensured this facility will be available to the local community for many years to come and this backed with the support of many ex players and benefactors has delivered something special.
Well done people and look forward to once again having the best pitch in South Lincolnshire!
