A determined Long Sutton 11 took on 14 City of Peterborough players. Our good defence stopped an early opportunity for City. The play continued to be end to end throughout the first half with Long Sutton enjoying the majority of play, particularly at the start.

Lisa provided some great passes into the D and we were unlucky not to capitalise. We had many more opportunities but just couldn't get the ball to the right place at the right time. Nearing half time, City were getting frustrated and desperate to get a goal. They produced some short effective passes and gained a couple of short corners, but we survived with brilliant saves from Emily.

The second half brought an early short corner for City which was well defended. We then countered straight up the pitch with some great passing to win our first short corner. We came so close to converting it and were very unlucky not to score.

City then had a good spell. They gained a couple of short corners but more great defending kept the score level. Unfortunately the position changed and with only 10 minutes to go City managed to score a scrappy goal. Our best chance came shortly after with Hannah Baker's individual run around a number of defenders and a great cross towards the right post. Katie stretched but couldn't quite get a stick on it to get it in the goal.

It was an entertaining match and our ladies played well, looking forward to seeing this developing team going from strength to strength. Player of the match was Tania White for her solid defence.
