We knew we had to make the best of this game and we had a strong squad ready to face St Ives. And we had some great support on the sidelines. St Ives had the 1st push back. Our first few minutes were shaky and our passing and tackling were a little off. We soon found our feet and started to pass the ball around the pitch. We were quick to begin attacking the St Ives D, with Jess driving the ball up the pitch and after a few quick passes it reached Megan who slotted the ball away. 10 minutes in and it was 1-0 to Long Sutton. We faced a few short corners, with Maisie running 1. We worked together to clear them all.

Emma arrived and swapped on for Lucy. She immediately joined in to keep the ball in the opposition's half. We were given a free hit just outside the 23m line and Lisa took it quickly and hit it straight towards the D. Amber got in the end of it and slotted it past the goalie. 2-0 to Long Sutton. Half time. Everyone was playing well and we just needed to continue doing the same. We had to score more goals and keep a clean sheet. Some attacking short corner tactics were decided as we ate sweets to keep us going.

St Ives were determined from the start of the second half and made more runs to our D. We defended a few short corners, ending their run when the ball wasn't stopped outside the D. There was a scramble to get the ball across the line, with Amber and Jess both trying before Jess got the final touch. 3-0 to Long Sutton. Megan struck the ball from the top right of the D. It rebounded of the bottom of the left post. A few minutes later she tried again and it hit the right post. The ball just didn't want to go in!

We kept the ball in their half and Amber scored again to make it 4-0 to Long Sutton. Lisa then tried everything to score, scrambling with their keeper, but the ball didn't quite cross the line. Katie ran tirelessly up and down the left wing for the whole game, often coming back to help defend and intercept. A few minutes before the final whistle she was on the edge of the D. She suddenly screamed and we all looked round worried she had injured her knee. Thankfully it was just cramp and she soldiered on for the last minutes of the game. Everyone played their socks off and there was good communication. Katie Smith and Megan Fey won joint POM for their tireless running and attacking.
