We had 13 in the squad to face Cambridge City 4s. It was Libby's first senior game and Sally was ready to come on in case of injuries. We won the first pushback. In the first 10 minutes the pace was very fast. Maisie continually drove the ball up the left and intercepted when we lost the ball. We defended some short corners very well, with Lisa Baker running 1. We all marked and pressed very well, forcing Cambs to pass the ball round the back on many occasions.

Cambs City attacked our D from their right. We tried to close them down but they hit a ball across the D into the left of our goal. Hannah Burton got her stick to it but unfortunately the ball deflected off it into the goal. Very unlucky. 1-0 to Cambs City. Using some of the drills we had done in training there were some great runs to the baseline, but we just couldn't get on the end of them. Libby came on for her first senior game, giving Katie a short rest. She linked up with her sister Martha very well. Amber was all over the pitch from front right to mid to defending on the left. Tania was stopping the attack and working the ball out of the D and passing it up the pitch. Half time 1-0. We had given them a good game, and frustrated them by stopping them from scoring more.

The second half started with Jess off and Amber moving into the middle. Cambs City kept the pace up. Emilly made some great diving saves to keep the ball out. It took a while but they scored a 2nd. 2-0 to Cambs City. No one let their head drop. Katie quickly picked up the ball just before the 23 and drove it towards the D. We got a short corner. Amber passed it short to Hannah on our left. Hannah stopped it, tapped it inside then struck it perfectly across goal into the backboard. 2-1.

Lisa was intercepting the ball and clearing from the D all game. Then she got hit in the hand, but she just shook it off and carried on. Hannah Burton started the game again with a bully which she won. Cambs City scored again. 3-1 to Cambs City. Everyone played well today but it was frustrating that we couldn't convert more of our chances. POM was won by Emily Braginton for some stunning saves.
