Long Sutton Ladies 1st team hosted Cambridge South 3 this week. Starting the game as they finished off last week, Playing some superb Hockey. They played with purpose and great possession trying out a new formation and new positions for some key players, Sutton held their own well in what was an equally fought game. The forwards Kate Tilbrook and Hannah Baker moving to provide a pass for the midfielders to feed through. Nat frost won a short corner mid-way through the first half where Lisa Baker first strike was too high as it crossed the line and was disallowed. Things were looking ok going in the 2nd half 0-0. Midfielders Emma Grosvenor and Esme Whitelam worked tirelessly down the left keeping the opposition at bay and push play back down the right a sterling peace of play by Perowne, Baker and Norey, Nat Frost again winning another short corner. Hannah Baker strike this time keeping it low at the top of the D, was driven wide by a Cambridge South defender giving a long corner. Sutton were kept from scoring by Cambridge South who took the ball on the counter attack late in the 2nd half and managed to put away their attempt at the back post giving them the 1-0-win Sutton were unlucky this week but will take the positives and work this week ready for their visit to Peterborough 30th September.
