After a few tough games the ladies seconds were well over due a reversal in fortunes. They started brightly enough but the pace was slow and the desire wasn't there which resulted in the first twenty minutes being dominated by Alford. The defence remained solid however and Jess Burton continued to impress showing great composure for such a young player. Lucy Smith is also settling well into her defensive position and has discovered she can match many for pace, disrupting play and giving her team time to get back. Sutton weren't without their chances with Petty hitting the post and a number of crosses from Laming going begging. A subtle swap of heather Ludlam to centre mid and Lou Billingham to the wing opened up the game. With seconds to go to half time Billingham received a through ball from Hales and virtually walked it into goal unchallenged. A timely score to go into the break 1 up. The second half commenced with an altogether more determined team on the pitch. Sally Hoyles and Heather Ludlam continued their tireless work in the mid field and Hales pushed up high to maintain possession in the oppositions half and pile on the pressure. Sutton began to dominate and it was only a matter of time until the next goal came as they won short corners and fired off the shots. George Synott got one through her customary goal line scramble and Petty added to her tally for the season. While Alford caught a break and scored a run away goal Sutton deserved their win and continue to develop as a side. Player of the match shared between Heather Ludlam and Lou Billingham.
