LSHC Ladies Second v Woodhall Spa 1st
Played Home on 27th January 2018After two weekends of not having a game Long Sutton hosted Woodhall Spa on a cold and wet Saturday morning. Woodhall took the lead with a quick goal in the first 5 minutes putting Sutton immediately on the back foot. Both Sutton and Woodhall had some good passages of play with end to end hockey from both teams. A good run from Rhian Goodge ended in a shot on goal that was defending by the Woodhall goalie into the path of Hannah Baker who was able to slot the ball into the goal to equalise. This took the game to 1-1 at half time. After the break Woodhall came back and caught Sutton out with another quick goal. Sutton fought hard with some good runs out of defence from Lucy Smith and Maisie Sullivan but were unable to gain anything from the chances. With 12 minutes of the game left Woodhall came quickly down the right hand side with a 1-on-1 with goalie Emily Braginton. Braginton raced out and got the ball but unfortunately this result in an injury meaning she couldn't continue anymore of the game. With a stoppage in play Rebecca Hales stepped up and put on a goalie kit being thrown in at the deep end with having to defend a short corner. Sutton got the ball out of their own half making several runs and crossing the ball into the D but again resulted in the ball going just wide of the goal at each attempt. Woodhall came back fighting and with some persistence managed to slot the ball home to take it to 1-3.
