A couple of changes to our usual line up this week but the 2's were feeling confident going into the game off the back of the strong win away last weekend. Looking super smart in our new kit and after a minutes silence to honour armistice day it was game on! > Sutton started the game showing a few nerves, obviously feeling the lack of presence from influential captain Lisa Baker. After a shaky 10 minutes Horncastle played a long ball into Sutton's D. Emily Braginton made a cracking save but Horncastle were quick to get the rebound pushing it over the line. > Under the temporary captaincy of Sarah Walker who dominated the midfield along with the Ali Monaghan and Jess Burton, Sutton settled and started to pass the ball around between them dominating play for the reminder of the 1st half. Some great linking play on the right between Rachael Gadsden, Daisy Rummery & Sally Hoyles led to the first of our short corners. With the sky rapidly turning black Sutton were unable to convert the next two and went into half time 1 goal down. > As the heavens opened Sutton came out fighting and dominated the 2nd half. Horncastle continued the long ball game leaving 2 attackers high at all times. Two more breaks led to more top drawer saves from Braginton and despite the tracking back from Lucy Smith & Claire Smith, 2 more scrappy goals were scored. > 3-0 down and soaked to the skin Sutton's spirit never gave up. Katie Collingwood-Smith showed her skill & speed (even through the puddles!) down the left with some great linking play with Walker & Georgina Synott. > A breaking run on the right, again showing strength, speed and skill this time from Hannah Baker, produced a cracking cross across Horncastle's goal. Who else but Collingwood -Smith got there to touch the ball over the line on her reverse stick! Battling hard to the end Sutton were unable to add to their score losing 3-1. > A very well deserved POM went to Collingwood-Smith for the 2nd week running. Tomorrow we regroup and go again. > > A huge thank you again goes to our home supporters sticking with us through the torrential downpours and to Charlie & Bod coaching on the sideline! > Report written by Sally Hoyles >
