MATCH REPORT

Long Sutton Ladies 2nd team saw in the new year with a list of New Year Resolutions: All team members to have Stunning Eyebrows by the end of the season, to have subs for every match, the captain not to forget any of her stuff and to get some points on the board! So we come to the first game on the new Astro Carpet…………………. The Ladies 2's are the first Sutton team to play on it and they have only gone and got 14 players! With a strong squad including Lou Southgate, Lisa Baker, Martha Hoyles and Sally Hoyles hopes were high and captain Emily Braginton gave a Churchillian team talk promising to fight the opposition on the new beach! The team worked hard pressed well and made chances; Imogen Cooper and Esme Whitelam worked well and complimented the intelligent younger Hoyles as she and the not so young Baker bossed the midfield. Chances were made, chances were missed, opponents were stressed, Fans were excited! And then it happened, Southgate found space, shot, scored! She decided she enjoyed it so much she did it again and then it was half time. Braginton having been so relaxed in goal that she had elected to save shots spectacularly even when she did not need to! Clearly the presence of the local press was too good not to impress! The second half was a comfortable walk along the beach, Smith, Smith, Hoyles senior, Braginton senior, Synott, Canham and the ‘Skater' girls all working hard to compliment the rest of the team – Baker scored (of course she did!) and young Cooper stole in and poached a goal to give the scoreline a nice 4-0 look to it. Great team spirit, great team performance and the first win of the season as well as the first ever win on the new carpet – a happy ending after a day out among the dunes! So how are those Resolutions holding up? Subs – check, Points on the board – check, Stunning Brows – the skip has so far, Captain not to forget her stuff – Oh well can't have everything can we now Brows??????????? Well done ladies – good to watch and christened the new pitch well!
