A game that tested everyone's determination and grit. The opposition started brightly, fast down the wings the defence of Sisson, Skate and L Smith were into action immediately. With the excellent Jasmine Smith in goal however they were able to repel the initial onslaught. It took time for Sutton to get into gear as St Neots were left to walk into the D unchallenged at times. J Smith was decisive in her keeping and the defence found their voice to direct cover more precisely. Sutton had to react and adapt their play as it was clear that the visitors were going to be quick to smother any attacks and their rapid overturns gave Sutton little time to recuperate. The first half was tense as short corners were won and defended and the score line remained 0-0 going into the break.

With reminders to pass to green and work off the ball the team returned to pitch determined and were gutted when a St Neots ball found a player to slot home to put them ahead. Sutton reacted well and the continued attacks by Dack, F Perowne and Norey who persistently pushed forward were unlucky not to connect with a final strike. Synott continued her good form to support on every area of the pitch! Betts narrowly missed a cross to the back post and Sisson forced a super save from the keeper at a short corner but the conversion wouldn't come. Determined work by P Perowne, Canham and Grosvenor ensured that Sutton kept their nose in the game. Despite the huge amount of pressure at every point there was not a single time when anyone gave up or took their foot off the gas. Everyone ran themselves into the ground and kept offering what they could. This pinned the opposition down to only scoring 1. Once again our youngsters shone with tireless work in attack and defence. A team performance but it was Penny Perowne who took POM honours.
