Sutton travelled to Upminster's front line looking to get their season back on track, by gaining a further three points. The game started slowly, but Sutton started to apply the pressure to the home team, by camping in their half and winning a succession of short corners, one of which was converted by a drag flick blasted from Josh Fyson. After a short while, Sutton allowed the home team to equalise, which made the task harder, especially with Synnott, Hales, Cook, Fox and Batten receiving green cards at various points throughout the game. Sutton were then dealt another blow, with Featherstone sustaining an injury, reducing numbers to eleven Green Army Soldiers fighting on the front line. After half time, the game became very unstructured and resembled an NBA game, whereby both teams struggled to retain possession of the ball. Upminster managed to score another, to then take the lead, which meant Sutton troops needed to bring out heavier artillery. Good defensive work from MOTM Tom Baguley, saw Sutton defend their barracks and good energy from Gavaghan and Batten allowed the ball to make its way to Shaw, who fired a canon into the back of the Upminster goal, 2-2. Endless running from devoted troops; Fyson, Cook and Harrison, helped to defend the Sutton trench and general Fox ordered troops accordingly, whilst sergeant Hales encouraged his squadron every step of the way. With time running out, both team were looking to end the war with a killer blow, and Upminster took their chance with dubious time remaining. Sutton had no more time to pick up the injured off the battle field. Special thanks to our newest edition to the Green Army, Harry Synnott, who gained valuable front line experience. Can they deliver Green Army grit and determination next weekend as they return to the front line away at Wapping?
