Finally Sutton's second half of the season got under way some 8 weeks after their last league game. Sutton, who's preparations have been dogged by the cold weather allowing them very little hockey or training, started the Brighter immediately putting Shefford on the back foot. Shefford's voices were the only real contribution from them in the first 10 minutes which cost them dear as they had two sent to the sin bin for 2 minutes. Sutton capitalised and scored the best goal of the game with a slick, flowing move. Fetherstone stole the ball superbly in the midfield, found Shore who beautifully picked out Fyson for a sublime deflection into the top corner. As the half went on Sutton started to tire and Shefford started to build momentum, utilising their giant squad to good effect. Shefford equalised through a lucky deflection and soon went in front with a well worked short corner. 2-1 half time. Sutton came out in the second half in the same style as the first, dominating the first 10 minutes. However, the Sutton minds were saying run, but their bodies weren't responding and they just couldn't sustain their efforts. Shefford took full advantage, rotating their players and making it extremely hard for Sutton. Shefford added another two lovely short corners and were deserved winners. Sutton will train hard this week and bounce back at home next weekend hopefully with their squad back to full strength.
