MATCH REPORT
LSHC Mens' First v Norwich City 3s
Played Away on 29th September 2018Sutton travelled with a 12 man squad to Norwich hoping for a more positive result this week. The young team started well against the 14 men of Norwich and took the lead following an intelligent aerial from Dan Oldfield to Alex Canham who played the ball in for an excellent finish from Jacob Synott.
Norwich came back strongly and levelled despite some excellent defending from Stef Fox, Tom Burton and Harry Synott. Despite a strong defensive performance and a strong command of his D by Cliff in goal Norwich took the lead before half time following a mix up over a ‘stray' whistle from a game on another pitch. Credit to Sutton, they came back strong and following an excellent pass from Tom Baguley to Sam Markillie, Sam finished smartly to level the scores before the break.
The second half saw a stronger performance from Sutton with Nick Ellis, Josh Baker and Will Taylor working tirelessly to pressurise the Norwich midfield. On another day Sutton may well have won the game but in the context of the start to the season should be happy to have not only got a point on the board but competed for the full 70 minutes. Man of the match was Jacob Synott for an excellent performance, but the whole squad deserve credit for what was a good battling performance.
