If it's Saturday then we must be going up the A47! This week the destination was the Dragons Den (I kid you not!) where Sutton looked forward to presenting their business case in the hope of coming away with three points in the bank. The game started with a high tempo and both sides played good hockey in an even battle, James Cliff making a string of excellent saves to keep the scores level. Sutton pushed on and 22 minutes in opened the scoring with an excellent finish from Tyler Hagan after good work from Danny Batten. Sutton kept on the pressure and 2 minutes later Josh Baker made it 2-0 from the top of the D – heady heights for the Sutton massive! Could the half get better? Of course it could! 26 minutes in and Hagan and Batten combined to pass to Alex Canham who finished well to increase the lead and then 90 seconds later Markillie and Canham combined to pass to Jacob Synott who finished under the keeper to make the half time score 4-0. The half time team talk was all about continuing the good work. The second half started with the team holding what they had and were thankful for more saves from Cliff, however he could do little about the short corner which reduced the deficit. As usual though, the young Sutton side did not lack spirit and pushed forward to try and restore their margin. And once again it was Danny Batten who was heavily involved in the build up for Baker to send a thunderbolt into the net for his second and Sutton's 5th of the game. The score finished 5-1 and the young team returned from the Dragons Den with the points to invest in the rest of their season – a very good team performance and a deserved result.
