Sutton travelled to bottom of the table Bourne Deeping in the strange position of being favourites for a game. This unique situation clearly bamboozled the side as Tom Baguley showed early signs of the season of goodwill by giving away a goal within 20 seconds of the pushback. As in previous weeks the young side showed great resilience and whilst they did not play the fluid hockey they had played the previous 2 weeks they did play themselves back on to level terms with Sam Markillie finishing after a goalmouth scramble. Sutton continued to press and on the stroke of half time Danny Batten took a pass from Markillie down superbly and finished with aplomb to give Sutton the lead at the break. Considering the amount of times the ball was given away, possession was wasted and passes not made to end the half in the lead was an achievement! After an honest appraisal at half time, Sutton improved in the second half applying pressure well and playing some good hockey and it was no surprise when Josh Baker scored from a short corner. Still Sutton pushed forward and another short corner resulted in a another Josh Baker goal to make the score 4-1. Sutton were now controlling the game and the style of play was impressive and although they still did not pass the ball as well or as often as they had in previous weeks they still carved out two more chances which were well finished by Tyler Hagen to make the final score 6-1. A great score, 3 valuable points and an improved goal difference an excellent return from an average performance.
