Tom Baguley profile

Sutton travelled to top of the table Harleston looking for points and without Skipper Stef Fox who was away on international duty. An early push back and a 2 hour journey saw Sutton arrive on the coast ready for a difficult game and they were not mistaken – Harleston pushed hard early but were contained by the defence of Cliff in goal, stand in skipper Baguley, Burton, Harry Synott and returning Dan Oldfield. Harleston are not top of the table for no reason though and two excellently worked moves resulted in them taking a 2-0 lead; as usual Sutton showed resolve and tried to fight back with Ed White and Will Taylor developing play down the flanks. Chances were made although the experienced defenders of Harleston kept them at bay. As half time approached Harleston added a third goal which was harsh on the away side. The second half started with Sutton pushing forward with Jacob Synott and Dan Batten working hard for the team, looking to link up with the hard running Canham and East. The Harleston defence was not to be breached however and it was no surprise when the intelligent Harleston midfield broke through the Sutton defence 3 more times in the second half. A final score of 6-0 was a little harsh but it has to be said the home side was the best Sutton had come up against this season and Sutton deserved the praise Harleston gave them for their play and spirit. Baguley led the team well and deserved Man of the Match for his leadership today, whilst Batten and Oldfield were the others to stand out in a total team performance from all of the squad.
