Sutton entertained Peterborough in their penultimate game of the season looking to continue to build on their excellent form since Christmas. With Matt Braginton deputising for the working Brad Whitmore the 12 man Sutton squad started well against their visitors from the City; taking the game to them at every opportunity. Sutton opened the scoring with a well taken goal from Will Taylor from a short and this was added to by Josh Baker to give Sutton a two goal cushion. Alex Canham then added a third to give a lead of 3-0 at half time. The defence of White, Fox, Burton and Baguley working well in front of the Excellent Braginton; who may be the third best keeper in his household but was the best on the pitch today! Half time chats were positive and promised of the same again for the second half – so Sutton promptly came out and conceded 2 goals quickly to give Peterborough hope of a famous comeback! Sutton however were not to be denied – they came again and when East was fouled by the keeper, Canham stepped up and finished the flick well to give Sutton a two goal cushion again. Peterborough were beaten and Sutton pressed forward to increase the margin; Collingwood-Smith, Synott and Ellis (looking to enjoy his hockey before his impending virus quarantine) working well to help provide chances for more goals. Taylor scoring the 5th Sutton goal with a good finish and then Canham completing his hat trick with a deflected finish from Taylor's cross to make the final score 6-2. Post Christmas Sutton have had the form of Champions, sadly pre Christmas they couldn't buy a point – a season of two halves; one with points and a pitch, one without!
