Long Sutton put strong fight in first half but couldn't continue it in the second Another Saturday for the men in green as they travelled to long road for a 3pm pushback under somewhat dim floodlights. Understanding the track record to come away with any points against cambs south away we knew it was going to be a big undertaking

An end to end opening 10 minutes which could've seen either side open the scoring ended with south claiming the first goal after a lapse in the Sutton defence. Their lead was not to last and a mere 5 minutes later the scores were level, Dan Oldfield deflecting a Josh Fyson short corner. This again lead to a stalemated end to end game in which either side could've scored, Josh Fyson was granted a 2 minute sit down by the umpire to which south would retake there lead 1 minute into this. Then no longer 5 minutes after this scores were levelled again by Brad Sargeant hitting the ball hard past the helpless keeper. With less than five to play Nick Ellis was then granted a 2 minute sit down by the umpire for circumstances not even the south players could comprehend. Then just like a broken record the home side would score again to go into the half time break 3-2 up.

Sutton started brightly in the second half Josh fyson scoring from a penalty corner again to level the scores and hopes were high that we would take something from the game. In this case it was not to be. Decisions we prehaps felt should've gone out way didn't tempers frailed and hopes weakened south scored twice in quick succession from a short corner and a penalty flick. Joshua baker then scored a penalty flick of his own. Sutton tried to press higher to get their foot back in the door in this game and were punished as south went on to score twice more without response.

Game ended 7-4 to Cambridge. In a game that going into could've gone either way I'm sure an 11 goal affair wasn't what either side had in mind. Long Sutton now look to there next 4 games knowing that the wins are needed to bolster there position before the Christmas break.
