The first game after the Christmas break is always a tricky one. Even more so when playing high flyers st ives 1st team who had Already played the week before. A side of 12 embarked on this challenge and looked to build on there performance last time they played st ives. The first half started warily. Sutton defended strongly and created a handful of chances for themselves. The side were more than in the fight and so a 5-1 half time score to st ives flattered them with their five coming from unfortunately placed rebounds and short corners. Sutton's goal coming from excellent work from josh Fyson who sent baker running for him to nearly finish into the roof of the net.

Sutton were determined to win the second half. to which they started brightly with much of the play being in Sutton's favour. The Sutton defence of Sam Gray,Matt Holmes, Simon Clarke and Micheal Donaghy were kept busy but they gave st ives very little chances on goal. Sutton looked most likely to score throughout the second half with baker and Fyson coming closest from open play. Their goal would come with a firmly taken short corner into the roof of the net. Unfortunately it would be too little too late for the men in green and final score ended 5-2 st ives.

Whilst a hard loss Sutton can take many positives out of this as they look to build on it and take it into next week. Man of the match was James Cliff (piggers) for a fine second half showing giving st ives not chance of an easy goal. .
