MATCH REPORT
LSHC Mens' First v City Of Peterborough 3rds
Played Away on 12th February 2022Sutton put up a valiant effort but couldn't quite complete the comeback.
Having come back from 4-1 down to draw 5-5 with Peterborough 3rds last time out. Sutton felt a sudden sense of de ja vu after loosing holmes early in the frost half to a hamstring injury leaving the men in green to play the game with just 11 men. A slight wobble during this time led to 2 cheap goals to be conceded for Sutton. As we settled the game started to become a more end to end affair and chances and Sutton's only short corner of the game came but it would be Bradley Sargeant with a fine poachers goal diving on to a bouncing ball to put it past the rushing out Peterborough keeper. The deficit would return to two minutes later after a well worked goal from Peterborough. Half time 3-1
The second half Sutton came out brightest of the two. The defence of donaghy, Oldfield, fyson and holmes left keeper James Cliff with very little to do for the majority of the game. A high Sutton press created chances from multiple avenues proctor, Hales, Ellis and baker the most note able in the earlier stages. As the half came to its midway point a fast break away from Ellis, Hales and Baker lead to the latter hitting a fine reverse into the roof of the net above the keepers head. A spurred on Sutton fought hard to find the equaliser but it would be Peterborough who would score the final goal with 3 minutes to play from a slipped short corner. Game would end 4-2 Peterborough.
