Sutton extend their run of form to 4 out 4 with fiesty encounter against struggling st Neots

Last away game of the season against strugglers st Neots had a good day for long Sutton written all of over but for the first time in weeks the men in green decided to make the going rough for themselves in patches. The side however began well and the majority of the chances were in st Neots half. Baker and Proctor coming closest in the opening exchanges. Baker would go on to score 10 minutes through his usual means. Swiftly followed by a fine diving tap in for Olly Taylor for his first for the team. At this point tempers began to spill out, rather than playing the slick attacking style of play the side became frustrated as decisions didn't go our way. Whilst not firing on all cylinders it didn't stop 2 further goals before half time. A Nick Ellis strike from a rebounded short corner and Josh Baker rounding the keeper and hitting strong side into the back board sent us into a 4-0 lead at the break.

The second half was again a scrappy affair as Sutton tried to battle through the increasingly challenging circumstances. Through this it would be st Neots to score a scrappy rebound before Sutton would again start stringing plays together. This again would led to the majority of the play being in st Neots half with only the stray defensive clearance from st Neots entering the Sutton half. 15 minutes into the half a goal bound proctor effort on a short corner was stopped on the line by a defenders feet resulting in a flick which was ably dispatched by baker for his third shortly followed by a baker cross finding Dom Ibrahim to slap past the keeper. With 15 minutes to play a clearance deemed good by everyone but the umpires lead to an awarded flick for st Neots which was also scored. At this point the game turned from scrappy to an aggressive form of play from the home side, a crunching 2v1 tackle on baker ended his game early after being knocked out. After such a tackle the only person sent walking was the surprised Brad Sargeant for his protective exuberance. Chances would come and go as decisions once again wouldn't go our way and the scoreline would not change.
