Travelling with a bare 11 and Captain Nick Ellis standing in for injuries in the 1st team it was to fall to Vice Captain ~ Luke Jackson to lead the side against a very strong Bourne/Deeping team. Three players would also step up this week to support the side in lacking regular numbers. Pavel Saponenko, Steven Milnes and Will Taylor all having cracking performances.
Wet and Windy the team would have to battle through the elements as well as the dragons to fine any hope of clawing some points out of the game. The young Sutton side got off to an impressive start with quick, sharp passing and all reading the game with their hockey brains firmly switched on. It would fall to the dragons to score in open play within 20 mins to break the deadlock. The Sutton side valiantly battling back with outstanding pace and skill from Will white and Daniel Oldfield found Jackson break through the defensive and firing a reverse stick shot to meet the backboard 1-1. 5 mins on slowly the Sutton side became sloppy in their passing and marking, only to be punished with a 4-1 score line at half time. Half time and after a strong team talk the team made a few tactical changes. MOM Joshua Baker swooping positions with Jackson in CM displayed a most incredible performance from Baker and assisting Jackson in a bombardment off shots at the Bourne/Deeping Keeper. Final score 5-2 ... second goal placed neatly by Pavel of Jackson and Baker's Short Corner attempts. Second half proving fight and passionate were surfacing just not enough to change first half mistakes.

Report by Luke Jackson.
