Long Suttons opening match in division 3 after a league winning campaign the previous season found themselves hindered with unavailability. Welcoming Jack Smith and George Neale into the side the team started their first 15 minutes with just 10 men in which time defence held firm only allowing st Neots limited time on the ball in our 25. The pressure soon told as the saved shot from braginton fell nicely to the st Neots forward who went on to put the ball past the helpless Sutton keeper. Spurring on Sutton a quick proctor 16 found Collingwood smith who put the ball across goal for Jackson to put the ball through the keeper's legs at the other end. Sutton gaining Simon Clarke put the side to full strength, but complacency soon found them behind once more and then 2 behind just before half time. A spirited team talk to try and get something from the game followed but from the start of the second half the young Sutton side couldn't get into the game tempers frayed short corners went astray umpires falling upon deaf did nothing for team morale. St Neots went on to score 2 more in a frustrating defeat for the side that will look to avenge the loss they suffered on that hot afternoon in the reverse fixture.
