Spurred on by last weeks defeat long Sutton were set to take something from this local derby against promoted Spalding. Having beaten Spalding 4 times from 4 last season spirits were high welcoming josh fyson, jimmy Harrison and Brad Sargent back into the side. The aim was clear to get points on the board. Sutton started brightly moving the ball around with precision. Short corners soon came and went a stray. Frustration started to set in as Suttons end product lacked in the final quarter. 20 minutes past and good build up play from Sam Gary and Dom Ibrahim allowed Josh Fyson to pass across goal and Collingwood-smith to deflect past the keeper to give them the lead they deserved. The lead was short lived and a well struck goal from Spalding's centre mid set the score level going into half time. Annoyed and frustrated the Sutton side pushed and pushed going into the second half but the Spalding defence held firm. The 3-quarter mark of the game intense Spalding pressure soon told and took the lead via a short corner. Determined to receive something from the game and so Suttons quality of play stepped up a notch and soon started to get the rewards from their hard work. 5 minutes after going behind Sutton found the answer with brad Sargent diving in on back post to see the ball into the goal. It was now Long Sutton dictating the play and was unlucky not to take the lead sooner through Jackson or Proctor. Eventually hard work lead to the winning goal and Fyson taking it round his defender and sweetly hit into the back board gave Sutton the win and 3 crucial points to their campaignÂ
