Week 4 in the White Brothers House and Ed is in the Diary Room explaining that Will had caught Watt-itis and was absent for the week. Up stepped Tom Burton to ensure unbeaten Sutton had a squad of 12 as they welcomed visiting Kettering to sunny Sutton. Having recorded their first win last week Kettering were no mugs and their well drilled approach gave Sutton their hardest game of the season so far. Sutton soon took control and dominated possession thanks to their miserly defence of Baguley, Clarke, Taylor and Hales who supported the midfield duo of White and Fox superbly. Burton once again drove in midfield alongside Watt and with Canham, Shooter and the ever willing runner Olly Taylor always looking to be available it seemed only a matter of time before Sutton took the lead. However………………………….they didn't. 5 minutes, became 10 minutes, became 20 minutes, became half time and still 0-0. Nervousness set it, alongside sunburn as Sutton huffed and puffed but could not blow the Kettering house down and it became apparent that a goalfest this was not to be. Kettering pushed Sutton a little making Baguley and Clarke work, but work they did. Fox adopted his favoured role of the little general and control was regained as he drove the side forward towards the Kettering goal. Sisson meanwhile, continued his pleasing habit of collecting clean sheets. Eventually Sutton managed a passage of decent play that resulted in Burton earning a short; White injected well and after some excellent interplay between Fox and Watt, Fox, who clearly had had his Weetabix, finally broke the defence of the boys from Burton Latimer with a clinical finish. 1-0 Kettering could count themselves a little unlucky, they are clearly a well organised team and played to a good game plan and it took a genuine bit of quality to open them up. They will climb the table as the season goes on. Sutton now have 4 wins from 4 and will look to build on their strong start to the season.
