Sutton's thirds team made light of the worst weather of the year to construct their best team performance of the campaign with a well deserved win at Peterborough. Sutton's lively start caught their hosts cold and the team were two goals to the good before barely half an inch of rain had fallen. Neither goal was a spectacular strike from the edge of the D, but both were tap ins earned by slick passing and movement, with Josh Woodrow and Charlie Riddington being the beneficiaries. Peterborough reorganised and came back hard , but their long ball game was seldom successful, and it took a wicked deflection to beat Alfie Braginton, who was immaculate throughout. Indeed it was hard to pick out any one of Sutton's bevy of youngsters who all contributed brilliantly to the cause in some truly dreadful conditions. Despite a classy and dominant performance in central midfield from Freddie Riddington, the Man of the Match award finally went to Adam Taylor for a statesman-like return in defence. He controlled the forwards as if conducting a parliamentary sub-committee on ethics in public life, and even his discussions with the umpire were made with a politeness and civility that our representatives in Westminster would do well to emulate.
