MATCH REPORT
LSHC Mens' Third v Horncastle 2nds
Played Away on 16th November 2019While the hosts may feel that the scoreline didn't accurately reflect their dominance, Sutton's merry band of third teamers know that it showed a really dogged defensive performance that they can be justly proud of. After a scoreless first half, watching Horncastle rotate players whose obvious class suggested they were capable of Division 2 hockey rather than Division 6, Sutton's goal was eventually found when a forward lifted the ball over the excellent Alfie Braginton from short range. Sutton dug in again and again, ably led by Jeremy Smith, with Ed Munson and George Neale forming an uncompromising back three. Long Sutton were growing into the game by the final whistle, with an attacking platform founded on the silky skills of Charlie Riddington and the ever-improving Josh Woodrow and Josh Norey. In truth the result was not really in doubt, but Sutton have plenty of positives to take into their next match.
