Since the beginning of the season the men's 3's have been working hard with numerous young players joining the team. Having had results of a draw and two wins in previous games. We went to Spalding having met them in a friendly pre season where we had a significant loss. However, this game would be an entirely different affair with Jerm, Ed, Jack, Luke , Gary H forming the major spine of the team from defence to attack. With our younger players picking up duties down each wing and in attack. Alfie (GK), Jerm, Ed, Ben , Jake , Josh Smith played a key role in our stoic defence who were at times pushed to the limit with Spalding attacking in numbers; this at times brought some great saves from Alfie keeping us in a very tight game.

All the young players have really developed and were never afraid to get stuck in, taking on grown adults who at times were twice their size. In the midfield Jack and Luke were pushed hard holding and feeding the ball out to Daniel and Sam with support from Josh Norey. This enabled us to go on the attack winning a short corner and Gary H took a finely struck shot to bring us to 1-1 .As Gary H's presence up front always worried Spalding requiring them to have two defenders near him at all times . This eventually gave us an advantage with our 2nd goal by allowing Troy to be at the back post unmarked, a great through ball from Gary H put Troy on the scoreboard.

The 3rd goal coming from similar circumstances this time Luke being the receiver of the pass and with a great strike puts us 3-2 ahead. Unfortunately, Spalding were able to equalise with about 6 minutes to go bringing the final score to 3-3. This game demonstrated how far the team have come in such a short period of time. The team have been playing really well together with the younger players adapting to Hockey on a full size pitch and the adults providing the support and guidance generating a great team ethic. Well done all a fantastic result. Man of the match Jake Simpson.
