On a bright early Saturday morning the thirds travelled to Cambridge. Sutton started out with a changed formation this week with the emphasis of attack but it took the first fifteen for the game to settle into a rhythm. The attacking threat began to emerge as Ian White scored from a short corner strike. The midfield of Gilly, Troy Croxford, Norey, Forest and Ed Hales began to dominate and with ten to go in the first half another short corner paid dividends with a rebound slotted home by Jeremy Smith.

Half time talk of possession and shape meant that structure was regained and the half started well. Sutton got their third when Jack Smith won a free hit outside the D. Taking it quickly to drive into the D and take a fiercely struck shot. 3-0. Goal 4 came from another short, White had clearly got his eye in and another direct strike found the backboard. Sutton's passing drills bore fruit when the ball was played around midfield and Perowne's pinpoint pass found Gilly on the post to slot home. With Sutton sitting on 5, Cambs replied with an accurate strike from the top of the D to deny Alfie Braginton his clean sheet. Five minutes to go an injury to T Croxford enabled G Hales to come on the pitch and another short corner rebound was placed into the corner. POM went to Theo Perowne for his tackling back and off ball work to create space and opportunity.
