Ladies 1st XI

2023-24 has been a season of mixed fortunes due to injury and losing players to uni they have regrouped with players coming through learning as they go and growing in confidence. They may not have had much success but with the promising youngsters coming through we will see things swing going forward Into the coming season. With a well deserved summer off they are sure to return fully fit and raring to go playing the hockey they have the potential to play.

Mens 2nd XI

The Mens 2nd XI had what could only be described as a positive season - building on the stability afforded from last year, the aim was to push for promotion and/or the title. Whilst some suspect results prevented that from happening, finishing a close third was the minimum to what this team deserved and a position that the boys can be completely proud of! Throughout the year, there were a total of 24 players for the Mens 2s - of which 7 were U18 and all played a significant role in the team. The top goalscorer was Daniel Batten, a feat even more impressive when you consider he only played with us for half the season! Players Player was voted to be Tom Baguley, for his defensive solidity and outrageous knack of being in just the right place at the right time to snuff out any attack. Captains player could have gone to nearly anyone, but the deserved winner was Stef Fox for being the sort of person every captain wants in his team but seldom gets. With that, my time as captain comes to a close and I look forward to helping whoever decides they want to take on this role, and to eagerly watch the progress that not only the team has made but the individuals as well

Ladies 2nd XI

Superbly led by vice-captain George, the ladies 2's had a fabulous season. As always every game was played with a great team spirit and win, lose or draw the team enjoyed playing for each other. There has been a competitive spirit about the twos this season though and they have found goals which led to a fourth place finish, only 3 points off third. Every player has shown a real willingness to learn and every single player has shown huge improvement from the start of the season. Top goal scorers were Katie Whittaker and Aimee Betts. Presentation evening saw Katie Whittaker awarded Players player of the Season and Sarah Skate was awarded Captains player of the season. The only negative from the season was long term injuries to Wendy and Lexi. With a summer to relax and recuperate the twos hope to see all players fighting fit next season ready to have a real push at promotion. Something that is definitely not beyond the realms of possibility.

Mens 3rd XI

The men's 3s had an unfortunately slow start to the season, beginning the hockey calendar with a sizeable loss streak. However through perseverance and hard work they managed to pull together to finish respectably in the middle of the table. The thirds have shown the ability to develop week on week, improving upon both the successes and errors of previous weeks and have grown into a solid squad full to the brim with individual talent and potential. We were fortunate to welcome new juniors and seniors as well as returning players to help bolster the team especially when things were looking rough and we were seemingly without a permanent keeper. The whole club is looking forward to seeing how this team can grow further next year and build on the player synergies that came into fruition in the 23/24 season, hopefully leading to more wins and greater success!
