Long Sutton were back to the field today after a weeks break. The defence were kept extremely busy by the Spilsby attackers. Emily Braginton was called upon early to make a clearance from a short corner. Sutton battled well to keep Spilsby at bay. With either Maisie Sullivan or Emma Grosvenor taking a run from defence alongside the midfield Sutton did get some great build up and found the attacking 25, but the Siplsby Defence cleared their D well. Maisie Sullivan, Emma Grosvenor, Lucy Smith, Jill Warrick and Jenny Gittins working tirelessly together in defence, they gave away a short corner. Which Emma ran out to and blocked but it shot up in the air where Lucy had superb eye and hand coordination but the ball got extra spin and trickled over the goal line and Sutton went into half time 1-0 down. Sutton conceded a defensive short and found themselves 2-0 down, after which Sutton made a few quick changes half way with players trying out new positions, this gave them better width. So with Sally Holyes now playing a central position Provided some solid block tackles along side Katie Collingwood-Smith and Rhian Goodge, they provided some wide balls which gave Hannah Baker and Heather Ludlam chance to work down the wings. With some Fantastic crosses in from the Right by Hannah, Georgina Synnott and Heather just narrowly missing the deflections. Lynne Braginton and Heather worked the left between them well. Sutton will take the positives and build on these for next week against Woodhall Spa.
