MATCH REPORT
LSHC Mens' Second v St Ives 3rds
Played Home on 4th November 2023This week top of the table Sutton 2nds entertained St Ives. With one change as Norey replaced Clarke who was busy preparing his annual Gunpowder Plot nothing foretold what was to follow. Both sides began energetically despite the heavy rain and whilst Sutton tried to impose themselves, St Ives were more than a match for the home team. Home teams were eventually settled a little after Ed White finished with aplomb following a couple of shots from Canham. 1-0 to Sutton Did this aver St Ives? No and it was no surprise when they equalised to make the scores level at half time. Half time talks were open and frank and the crowd expected the side to get to business as usual in the second half. It was just not there for the home team though and whilst they looked like the only scorers they also forgot that that would involve the ball going into the net. A wet day, a disappointing day, however the usual result on the day of the Bonfire Party. A performance that was completely opposite to their last one and left them feeling that in future years ‘remember, remember, the first week of November, a slip week if ever there should!'
