MATCH REPORT
LSHC Ladies First v Cambridge South 2nds
Played Home on 5th February 2022Cambs South won the toss and chose first push back. We started well and within 10 minutes we had our reward. Amber pushed the ball past the goalie into the bottom right corner to make it 1-0 to Long Sutton. Shortly after Cambs South headed for our D and hit the ball towards our left. Lauren tried to stop it with her reverse stick and it ended up bouncing off and into Lisa's jaw. Lisa carried on playing until several short corners later wearing the mask was too much. Maisie dropped back, and when Lisa came back on, she played right mid for a bit. All of a sudden Lottie swept through to the left to pick up the ball. Two of the opposition were immediately on her but she stayed strong and kept possession of the ball, eventually winning a free hit. Half way through the first half Nomads attacked our goal and scored to make it 1-1. Then just before half time a hit came from near the 25 into the D and Lauren got her reverse stick to it, but the Cambs South player was stronger and hit the ball into our goal. 2-1 to Cambs South. Half time came. 2-1 to Cambs South.
We found it hard to get the ball up the pitch. They marked us well and we were too far apart. Defensively we kept out a lot of short corners, but in the last minute we conceded another goal to make it 3-1 to Cambs South. Not a bad effort against 2nd in the league. Player of the match was won by Tania White who had a great defensive game.
