With 11 players this week the lovely 2s traveled away to Newmarket to play their development side.

The sun was shining and after last weeks game we were on a high after beating Cambridge South 6th 2-1 who were on the top of the league and upbeat we were ready to take on the next team. Newmarket had first push back and with Ellie asking to play a certain end to avoid the sun we started by pushing the Newmarket side into our half. We played four across the middle ( Lillie, Katie, Pippa, Aimee)they worked hard to get the ball into our D. Winning a sort corner the team tried to sweep it into the goal but it didn't come off. The Newmarket side were a young side and very capable of playing in the league they started to gain confidence and managed a very quick goal. We set again but Newmarket manage to get through our defence ( Holly, Sarah, Julie, George) Ellie worked tirelessly and had plenty of kicks clearing the ball away. At half time the score was 2-1. The defence were put under pressure today, Holly had a cracking game moving her self up the pitch and clearing the ball away at half time the score was 2-0 to Newmarket.

The second half started after we had a quick chat and a few sweets to raise our sugar levels. I could see how much the girls were struggling with not feeling 100% health wise but they all battled hard. The mid-field kept on going, passing the ball to Alison and Annabelle but it just wasn't to be today. Newmarket gained another goal from a very good straight strike and the game ended 3-0 to Newmarket. You can't win them all but as usual our girls put everything into this game and I can't ask for anymore. We will go again next week playing Pelicans 3rds at home, so rest up everyone and reset your mind for next week.

Our POTM goes to two great players this week who have come into this sport recently and always try their best. They are always positive though-out the games and are growing with confidence so it goes to Alison and Holly
