Sutton travelled the long way down to Stratford to play East London, at the Olympic site. It was Sutton's push back first and straight from the off, some great play by Fred Whatling down the right wing managed to win a short corner: which was neatly converted by Fyson to put the visitors up after 1 minute. Sutton kept applying early pressure and moved the ball well. Sutton managed to get a second when Ben Shore was first to a rebound off the keeper, who rounded him, and tapped the ball under the keepers reach. The home team gradually started to get back into the game. They used their middle players to good effect and by half time managed to level the score. The second half started evenly. Both sides had equal chances created using their own strengths. Man of the match James Cliff between the posts kept Sutton in the mix. About half way through the second half Sutton were the first to add the score. A superb piece of link up play between Featherstone and Shore lead to another short corner. Some good chat and a well executed routine saw Shore sling the ball across the goal into the corner. Another goal came with Ross Gavaghan scoring his first of the season. A textbook run into the D with a cool finish past the keeper. Sutton tried to hold their lead as best they could. The home team got a goal back but Sutton did enough to keep the lead and see out the game to take all 3 points.
