Sutton travelled to Cambridge to play Cambridge City 3s looking to continue their recent league form. The away side got the game under way however it was the home team that edged the early exchanges and opened the scoring. Sutton responded well and were quickly back on level terms, a long corner played by Gavaghan to Fyson who went on a trademark mazey run past 2 defenders and finished on the reverse low to the keepers left. The game evened out with chances for both sides. Sutton were reduced to 10 men for 2 minutes after a Fyson stick tackle got him a green card, Cambridge took the chance to get back in front, a mix up in the D that saw nobody in green clear their lines which allowed the forward to tap home. Again Sutton equalized this time Shore with his first of the afternoon. The ball was slipped to him at a penalty corner and after taking a wicked deflection over the keeper ended in the net. 2-2 the half time score. A slight re-shuffle at the break with Featherstone now more defensive minded, man marking Cambridge's main play maker. Sutton started the brighter and the reward was them taken the lead again a slipped short corner to Shore to flick home. It wasn't long before the away side doubled the lead. Another penalty corner this time Fyson's drag flick saved well by the keeper but Cook was on hand to poke home. The lead was extended further with a brilliant break away goal down the left, batten sprinted clear and squared to an unmarked Shore who thought he had scored to complete his hat trick saw the ball rebound off the post. He wasn't to be denied however he smartly finished into the corner on his reverse. Sutton then slipped back into old habits; Fyson dilly dallying on his own 25 the home side nipped in to dispossess him, drive into the D and beat Cliff through his legs. Solid defence from Taylor, Baguley and White, with Gavaghan holding the base of midfield superbly kept the score at 5-3 until the later stages when again on the counter, Shore was through one on one with the keeper rounded and finished into the empty net his 4th of the game. The game finished 6-3, another brilliant team performance. A mention for Harry Synnott playing in only his second league match at 12th man and solid throughout.
