It was only after the sweeping of excess water off of the pitch that this game could begin. Sutton pushed forward in waves from the start and managed to breach the Peterborough defences twice as Will Cook and Ben Shore flooded forward. Gary Hales also made sure he did not start a dry spell by adding a third by finishing between the keepers legs leaving Shore beached at the back post. The Sutton tide abated pre half time and Peterborough landed 2 goals to make the half time score 3-2. A half time chat later and Sutton began playing the best hockey of the game working around the back of the Peterborough defence to allow Shore to score his second in off the post. Sutton were cruising now and it was no surprise when Shore landed his third, leaving Sutton on the cusp of the promotion places.
