On a glorious Sunday morning in Surfleet, Sutton raised their game to take the Lincolnshire Europa League by storm. Finding the sort of form that has eluded them for seasons, they dispatched Horncastle 8-0, with Josh Fyson scoring the sort of hat-trick that he's been capable of since he was 13, but has rarely delivered, Ben shore scoring 2, Danny Batten putting in a performance to impress the watching adoring crowd, Ross Gavaghan putting his usual work-horse like performance confusing the defenders and himself with a disguised finish - so disguised that no-one realised he'd scored, and Jimmy Harrison on a rich vein of scoring and average performances continued both to finish the scoring off. Whilst not busy, James Cliff decided to exhibit his flick saving skills by giving away the most cast iron flick Surfleet has ever seen - and then saving it! Ed White was majestic at the back and Will White showed signs of a young Nick Ellis in his midfield thrusts. Captain Taylor, Fox, Whatling and Goodley completed a fine team performance where the result was never in doubt and the side did not miss Cook and Featherstone. Whilst the 8 goals were impressive, it was not lost on the squad that the clean sheet was achieved - though to be fair we won't say that it was because Baguley was missing! Report by J. D. Wetherspoon.
